Home sweet new home!

Hi there!

hope everyone is ok! before telling you about our latest news, we wanted to say that we are really happy you actually read us! haha :) probably at some point you will get bored and won't want to hear about us anymore haha but in the meantime, thanks for the 300 views our last post had, yay!

Anyway back to the point, here we are, with a few updates for you all. Joe started working last week, being this his second week, and he is loving it. His office is right in the center of Sydney, which is quite a cool place to be, and everyone in the office has been very nice and welcoming! so he is very happy so far!

And for me, I started being proper housewife this week, as last Saturday we moved into our new house! We found it pretty quickly, only in a week, and we still can't believe it to be honest. It was pretty stressful, as here things work different to London or Spain.

Basically, you can only see a house when the agency does an opening, which means that when you see an ad for a flat you like, you have to be checking which day of the week will it be opening. Once it's decided, the viewing is only open for 15 minutes on a Saturday for example, and you have to attend with everyone else who wants to see the house. If you like it, you literally have to have a documentation pack ready (passport, bank statements, visa, job contract, etc.) with all your information in it so you can apply as quick as possible. You might be the only one applying but it could be that there is more people who want it obvisouly, so the landlord has the right to decide who he prefers. If you want to risk it, you can also put a deposit down (around 2 weeks rent) so that the house is taken out of the market for you. But it still doesn't guarantee you will get it, as the landlord might refuse to have you as a tenant.

So yeah, pretty messy/stressful as you can see, specially if you have just arrived to the country as you don't really have any history or records here, so anyone who does is your competitor. But we have to say we were extremely lucky, as we managed to come see our flat during the week and it was only us! it is winter now so there is not many people looking for flats. We loved it so much, not only for the location, which is 10 mins walk from Bondi beach, but also because it was nicely furnished (95% of the flats here are unfurnished, to the point you have to even buy the fridge or washing machine), so we went to agency and put the offer straight away! We had the hotel paid for a little longer but we didn't want to lose the flat so we moved in last weekend as I just said.

The house is very nice, the decoration is quite cool as you can see (it used to be rented out as an Airbnb type of thing) and it has a massive living room, so we will be able to host a few of you! lol the only thing about Sydney (or Australia in general) is that you have to live with the fear of getting massive spiders (huntsman, google it, you might die of a heart attack :s) and Cockroaches quite often, but at the moment we have been lucky not to get any. We are buying a thousand insect sprays and praying for the best lol.

Anyway not to scare you, see pics of our house below!! super nice noooooo? :)

Anyway, we hope you have liked it! we will add some more posts soon on the area we live and a few other bits we wanna show you.

Miss youuuuuuu!
